WHAT THE SONGS ARE ABOUT

“BROTHERS” is about all my best buds that have moved on to the next place we all go. This song is about Chezbo, Coondog, Trucker, Jimmy and Eddy C., Stevie Cot, Bernice at the Wayside, Charlie B. and Happyland in Dalton. All of these people were friends you could really let your hair down with. All of them have made serious dents in my memory for many different reasons. I miss them all :(

COMPLAIN: I don’t complain nearly enough. I don’t speak up when you make it rough.

TOMORROW: Wrote this after the 911 craziness. I kept hearing about folks who were calling loved ones from the upper floors saying, ”I’ll be home tomorrow.” I can’t say enough about how sad this makes me still.

SATURDAY: Me, Jody and Hoover were in on this. Jody helped develop the lyrics and the mood. Last verse was going out to Ma.

IF I SAID: this started bluegrassy, then when we got to the studio, I said ‘let’s try something.’

FABIEN: This is a story song about a guy from Quebec who has a hard job working on a tanker. In the end it was all a dream.

THE ROAD: Give up the road? Well we all give up something when we decide to keep something.

BOTTOM LINE: How can we not help others who are worse off then ourselves? How can people who are at the top of their game, not stop and look around and help those who could use a hand? I swear, if you volunteer somewhere a couple hours a week, or fund a program that helps others, your life will be affected in a way that is profoundly positive.

ME, MYSELF AND I: I still laugh when I sing this. It is about three guys trying to get one girl.

KELLY ANN: this is about divorce courts, expectations of, and from, the family. Ouch song.
